Meet The Fibres

Lyocell

This fibre is made from beechwood pulp and is one of the most eco-friendly and sustainable fibres made. Lyocell adds softness and breathability, making it comfortable for both daily wear and training. It offers a more natural-feeling alternative to polyester, all whilst retaining quick-drying and moisture-wicking capabilities. It's also far more sustainable, breathable and moisture-wicking compared to other natural fibres like cotton or linen.

Why Avoid Polyester & Nylon?

Health

Polyester and nylon are known hormone disruptors. They shed millions of microplastics into your skin each time you wear them. In sportswear specifically, your pores are open and you're rubbing against the fabric, which makes your skin even more susceptible to absorbing microplastics. Microplastics have been proven to affect your hormones.

Hormones aside, research shows that microplastics cause inflammation, oxidative stress, DNA damage, and potentially raise the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Usage

Because it is plastic, polyester is not breathable and does not absorb moisture like natural fibres. It traps sweat against the skin, which feeds odour-causing bacteria. This causes the smell you get from sweating. So your sweat doesn't smell by itself; it’s the bacteria growing because of polyester that causes the smell.
